We can find many granite slabs and other rock objects with ancient inscriptions that lights towards the rich tradition and history of St Thomas Christians. Thahekkadsashanam is such an ancient piece of rock inscription that says about certain privileges of Nasranis. The inscription can be dated palaeographically to between the 8th and 10th centuries. One of the granite slabs found at Holy Ghost Forane church Muttuchira says about the erection of ancient open air rock cross in front of the church. It dates back to 1521 and mentions that two Chaldean bishops visited there and consecrated the open air rock cross that was erected instead of old wooden cross.
